ASTANA MOTORS STRENGTHENS ITS POSITIONS IN FOREIGN MARKETS

Astana Motors is preparing for the anniversary of the brand: in 2022, the first automobile company in the independent Kazakhstan will turn 30 years old.

Astana Motors attracts more and more attention of domestic and foreign partners, building on years of experience, expanding the business geography, improving the production technology, and strengthening its positions in foreign markets.

Two exhibitions took place in Nur-Sultan on the previous weekend: the exhibition of freight commercial transport “Futuroad Expo Astana” and the exhibition of after-sales servicing “Automechanika Astana”. New generations of Hyundai passenger cars — Palisade, Santa Fe, and Tucson — as well as the commercial Hyundai EX6 and Hyundai Pavise were presented at the international exhibition center “EXPO”.

Astana Motors’ subsidiaries — Hyundai Trans Almaty and Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan in Almaty — produce commercial vehicles and passenger cars of the international brand in Kazakhstan.

Part of the portfolio of the Kazakhstan motor company, Hyundai cars proved to be reliable, practical, efficient, and comfortable transport, and the company sees long-term development prospects in the cooperation with Astana Motors. In June 2021, Hyundai Trans Almaty concluded an export contract with Transconsult Service, the Belarusian distributor of commercial vehicles, for the supply of the Hyundai EX 8 freight vehicles.

“The Hyundai Trans Almaty plant has been manufactured time-proven products for more than 10 years. The model range includes freight vehicles from 1.5 to 15 tons, passenger cars, as well as municipal and specialized commercial vehicles. Among others, we manufacture the Hyundai H350 Ambulance with innovative European equipment. The main advantages of our products are an affordable price and high quality,” noted Head of Hyundai Trans Almaty Adilbek Gayev.

The Kazakhstan plant supplied the first batch of cars to Belarus — 12 Hyundai EX8 vehicles. Until the end of the year, Hyundai Trans Almaty will supply 26 freight vehicles more to Transconsult Service. The plant also exports its products to Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and plans to expand the export geography.

Transconsult Service, the official representative of a number of international brands of freight vehicles in the Republic of Belarus, has been cooperating with Hyundai Trans Almaty for many years. According to Head of Transconsult Service Sergey Zhukovich, vehicles produced by Hyundai Trans Almaty plant have proven their high level of quality during the time of cooperation. This is confirmed by positive feedback from clients and the long service life of vehicles based on Hyundai chassis produced in Kazakhstan.

“We see great potential in further cooperation with Hyundai Trans Almaty. Since 2021, the plant has been selling the new Hyundai Mighty and Pavise vehicles from 3.5 to 18 tons, which enables to fully cover segments from light commercial vehicles to medium-duty trucks. The plant also sells chassis with bodies. It allows saving time on mounting and producing flat bodies in Belarus, and the client gets a fully ready-to-go vehicle with a quality guarantee,” emphasized Mr. Zhukovich.

In 2021, Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan, in its turn, concluded export contracts for the supply of its products to Belarus and Kazakhstan. Astana Motors currently considers the export of Hyundai passenger cars to Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, and Russia.

The assembly shop of the Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan plant started its operation in April 2020 in the Almaty Industrial Zone; the complete launch of the enterprise with the welding, body painting, and plastic part painting shops as well as the component warehouse took place on October 15, 2020. The plant occupies 34 thousand sq. m on 15 ha of land. The production capacity at the first stage is 30 thousand vehicles per year, at the second stage — up to 45 thousand vehicles per year, and at the third stage — up to 60 thousand vehicles per year.

The project has been implemented with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, the Industrial Development Fund, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KazakExport, and the administration of Almaty.

“We have produced more than 20 thousand vehicles since launch. Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan exports 20% of vehicles it makes to the Republic of Belarus and Uzbekistan. We plan to increase the export volume and have already concluded a contract for vehicle supplies to Kyrgyzstan,” said Head of Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan Maksim Tarasov.

According to Vice President of the Association of Kazakhstan Automobile Business (AKAB) Anar Makasheva, steady demand in foreign markets confirms the quality of products manufactured at Kazakhstan plants.

“The export of Kazakhstan products confirms the success of the selected production development model. We are glad to see that manufacturers’ plans are implemented within such short terms,” she concluded.

Hyundai Auto Kazakhstan is the official distributor of Hyundai passenger cars in Kazakhstan. The brand’s commercial vehicles are sold by Hyundai Com Trans Kazakhstan. Both companies are subsidiaries of Astana Motors.
