SALES OF NEW BMW I MODELS IN KAZAKHSTAN

The BMW i3 and the BMW i8, the best-selling compact electric vehicles of the premium segment and the most successful hybrid sports cars, are now available in our Republic.

E-mobility becomes a measure of the future success of BMW. Last year, the company delivered 103,000 electrified vehicles (electric and hybrid models) to customers around the world. In 2018, this figure is expected to grow to 140,000 vehicles.

By 2025, the number of the electrified BMW models will increase to 25. From 2021 onwards, the fifth generation of the electric drive and a new battery technology will allow the BMW Group to create cars with all types of drives. The Group has patented the names from BMW i1 to i9 and from BMW iX1 to iX9.

Last year, Autocenter-Bavaria as part of Astana Motors signed a contract with BMW AG for delivery of new BMW i cars to Kazakhstan. Thus, Astana Motors has become the only automotive group of companies in the country that officially imports European electric vehicles to our market and provides full support for warranty service.

There are now two models in the product line of the BMW i division: BMW i3 and BMW i8.

The BMW i3 and BMW i8 Coupe can be charged at home from a special BMW i Wallbox charging station or via a standard charging cable from a 220V power outlet. Modern charging stations, adapted for quick charging with direct current, are able to charge a battery of the BMW i3 to 80% within just 40 minutes.

According to the Association of Kazakhstan automobile business (AKAB), 109 new charging stations will be installed in Astana and Almaty in the next 12 months in the country: 50 stations in Astana and another 50 stations in Almaty. Additional nine stations will be installed along the Astana - Borovoe highway. In total, by the end of 2018, there will be 350 stations in Kazakhstan that will lead to a greater development of the market for electrified cars in Kazakhstan.
